  We try to support local businesses, but Shakou has made it so we won't be back. If you prioritize trendiness over good food and good service, then you will enjoy your time. We have eaten here a few times and have a story for each. First, despite having reservations for on Monday evening at 6PM, they tried to seat us in the sushi bar. Huh? It was my son's 11th birthday and there were four open tables in the dining area (where they finally sat us). This story is consistent with many others here. Second, we have had issues with the beef they have served each time we've been--one time it had too much gristle to chew and another time it was WAY overcooked. Finally, the sushi is mediocre to poor. Not only are the cuts too small, but they are served at the wrong temperature on a freezing cold plate. This is unlike any sushi I've had during my 20+ visits to Japan.

  We sat inside upstairs early on a Saturday night. Great atmosphere. Great service. Very fresh tasting ginger and soy sauce. Sushi was excellent. Overall, a really enjoyable experience.
